So, you got a home tanning bed and you don’t know how to power it?  First, you will need to determine if your bed requires a 120 Volt or a 240 Volt power source.  You will need to search the products user manual or product tags to figure out which type of voltage is required to run your specific tanning bed model.

It is suggested by tanning bed manufacturers to keep one bed on its own individual circuit breaker or they will likely trip the breaker causing you other problems.

The power sources most likely needed to power your home tanning bed will be one of the three NEMA 5-15R, NEMA 5-20R, or NEMA 6-20R receptacles.

Tanning beds have so many internal electrical components and are expensive which means it is a good idea to protect your investment.  Not only have you invested in the bed and lamps but depending on the bed type, you may have also invested in an electrician to set up the correct power source you need for your bed to run properly and safely.

To keep your tanning bed safe during unforeseen events like lightning strikes, power surges or spikes in power for any reason, grab a surge protector from your local hardware store.  We do have a surge protector option available for your NEMA 5-15R power source.  It is also a great residential use power strip with rotating outlets, keeping your cords organized.  Of course, you can protect your bed easily by unplugging it when not in use.

NEMA 5-20R Outlet

If you are looking to create a NEMA 5-20R outlet from your standard home outlet we offer a compact adapter [XH515520] that will do the trick.

We can provide a solution for powering your bed using either style dryer outlet.  The two household dryer outlets, depending on the age of your home, are NEMA 10-30R, which is an old style 3-prong dryer outlet.  You might also have a new style 4-prong dryer outlet installed in your home which would provide a NEMA 14-30R, replacing the old-style outlet.

For the 4-prong NEMA 14-30R outlet you could use our AD1430620 compact adapter to power your bed and for the 3-prong NEMA 10-30R outlet, you will want to use our AD1030620 adapter.  We also have other solutions to plug into an electric range outlet, welder outlet, and more.

We recommend contacting your certified electrician to have your circuit breakers or 240 Volt outlets installed.  You can contact us and use our FREE consultation program to figure out the best solution for powering a tanning bed in your home.

Hello Chome. Yes, the adapter would get plugged straight into your dryer outlet. From there, you would plug the extension cord into the adapter, and then your tanning bed into the extension cord.
You can email me at ac-creative@acconnectors.com if you still have questions or concerns.

Ok-I think I am confusing myself. If the (1) end of the Adapter Plugs into the Dryer Outlet (14-30P) (4- Prong) & the other end of the Adapter (6-20P) plugs into (1) end of the Extension Cord, where does the other end of the extension cord (6-20R) plug into? Any chance you have an email address where I can send my pic//drawing to, to make sure that I order the correct products?

Hello Chome. So you would actually need two items to get what you are looking for. One is an adapter to go from the 14-30 outlet to a 6-20 connection. The adapter is 1 ft in length and the part # is S1430CB620. Then, you can use part # S620PR as your extension cord. S620PR comes in lengths of 10ft, 25ft, and 50ft.

Really—There is an Extension cord w/ the different cords on each end—That is PERFECT!!!

    *The Tanning Bed Cord is:
    NEMA 6-20p// 20 Amp// 250 Volt
    *The Dryer Cord is:
    NEMA 14-30p// 30 Amp// 125/250 Volt

Can you please let me know if you have this Extension Cord & If so, What’s the Part #?

    THANK YOU!
